  1. Creating a Study Plan

Devising a study plan is an important part of the competition preparation. Firstly access your strengths and weaknesses and formulate a study plan accordingly. Give equal time to each subject as they all have equal weightage in the exam.

Set realistic goals and targets. Leave some space for revision in the timetable as it is a crucial part of NEET preparation. Regular revision aids in mastering the fundamentals and establishing a solid foundation for conceptual understanding.

  1. Smart Study Techniques

Working smarter can save your energy and time. Use tools and techniques to boost your learning such as mnemonics, flashcards, pictorial representations, graphs, flow diagrams, and short notes. These techniques help to memorise formulas, theorems, diagrams, and complex topics easily.

  1. Select the Appropriate Study Resources

Besides hard work choosing the right books is essential for NEET preparation. Use NCERT books for classes 11th & 12th in Physics, Chemistry, & Biology to understand the fundamentals. Read the NCERT biology & chemistry several times and read every line as most of the biology & chemistry questions are from NCERT books.

Use study material provided by the coaching institutes as they are the primary source of information according to the latest syllabus. In addition, make use of the sample papers and previous year’s exam papers to practise the multiple choice questions.

  1. Time Management

Learning effective time management strategies will help you complete your paper on time and reduce stress. Solving the exam paper under a simulated exam environment can help you devise effective time management strategies. Don’t spend too much time on one question, move ahead and come back later to solve the problem.

  1. Take Care of Mental & Physical Health

Since the exam preparation is vast most of the NEET aspirants feel tired physically and even get depressed while preparing for the exam. Staying motivated, seeking advice, talking to your peers, sleeping well, exercising frequently, eating a balanced diet, and developing a positive attitude will preserve your physical and mental health.

Mistakes to Avoid while Preparing for NEET

Here are some common mistakes that should be avoided while preparing for the NEET exam:

  1. Over-Reliance on One Resource

Do not rely on one resource for preparation incorporate good resources such as sample papers, previous year papers, reference books for practicing numerical, and study material offered by coaching classes. Studying from one book will not help you as the exam requires exploring more questions and learning the depth of the syllabus.

  1. Neglecting Weak Areas

Students made mistakes by improper analysis of their strong and weak points. Seek guidance to help you identify your weaknesses and focus on those topics to improve your overall performance.

  1. Not Revising the Syllabus

Revision is an important part of NEET preparation. Since the syllabus is vast with some complex and inter-related topics there is ample scope for confusion. Revising regularly previously completed topics will help to form a strong foundation essential for success in the exam.

  1. Skipping Mock Tests

Mock tests and practice sessions help to analyze the preparation status and boost confidence. Skipping these tests will have adverse effects on your preparation.

Conclusion

The Maharashtra NEET counselling will take place for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, and other associated medical and paramedical courses. DTE Maharashtra oversees the medical counselling process for the 85 percent State Quota seats.

The NEET exam became controversial because it gave grace marks to 1563 students in some examination centres for time loss. For these students, the NTA is organising Re-NEET on 23 June 2024 and preparing a merit list based on their revised scorecard after the result declaration on June 30, 2024.

The Maharashtra State NEET counselling will commence in the first week of August following the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling for 15% of All India Quota in July first week. Read the full blog to learn what Open State Counselling is and how it benefits you.

What is Open State Counselling?

Open State NEET Counselling is the process by which applicants who have passed the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) in India can apply for admission to undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses at government and private colleges within a specific state.

85% per cent of seats are reserved in the participating state government and private colleges where students can seek admission and get the college of their choice within their state. The Maharashtra State NEET counselling will start in August and will prioritise the students who reside in the state and have state domicile. The remaining 15% of seats will go under the All India Quota in the MCC national council for the NEET.

Benefits of Open State Counselling

The open state counsellling has the following benefits for state students:

  1. Access to the top medical and dental colleges

As we all are aware Maharashtra is the home to top medical and dental colleges in India. Securing 85% of seats for state students will provide them with opportunities to study in the top colleges without leaving the state.

  1. Transparent Process

Through the counsellling process, admission is granted based on the merit and rank secured. There is no preference or partiality in seat allocation making it one of the most reliable ways of seat allocation to the deserving candidate.

  1.  Multiple Rounds of Counselling

The counsellling process is completed in several rounds giving students to book a seat in the college allocated and secure it until they get a seat in their desired course and college. This process helps in seat swapping and maximizes opportunities.

  1.  State Quota Reservations

Apart from the 85% quota open to all, the state also gives reservations to the other backward classes such as SC/ST/OBC by abiding by the rules and regulations of the government of India. Thus giving equal opportunity to all the sections of society.

The candidate must have passed the NEET examination with the minimum qualifying marks prescribed by the NTA (National Test Agency).
