JEE Advanced 2024: Eligibility Criteria for Indian Nationals and OCI/PIO Candidates (Card issued before 04.03.2021)

1. JEE Main 2024 Performance

Candidates who have secured rank among the top 2,50,000 (all categories) in the JEE main 2024 B.E/ B.Tech paper are eligible for the JEE Advanced 2024.

The following percentages of candidates will be shortlisted: 

• 10% for GEN-EWS
• 27% for OBC-NCL
• 15% for SC
• 7.5% for ST
• The remaining 40.5% is OPEN for all

However, each of these five categories allows for a 5% horizontal reservation for PwD candidates.

The total number of candidates can slightly differ if there is a clash in rankings. The candidates who got their OCI/POI cards before  04.03.2021 are considered Indian Nationals but are not eligible for reservation under the described five categories.

2. Age and Age Relaxation

Candidates born on or after October 1, 1999, are eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. However, 5-year age relaxation is given for reserved categories (SC, ST, and PwD) candidates, therefore they should be born on or after October 1, 1994.

3. Number of Attempts

Candidates can appear for the JEE Advanced examination a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.

4. Qualifications

A candidate who has passed class 12th in 2023 or is appearing for the class 12 examination in 2024 in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. However, the candidates who passed class 12 in 2022 are not eligible for the JEE Advanced 2024.

5. Previous admission to IIT

A candidate who appeared for the last round of the JoSAA and was allocated a seat but could not continue the admission or cancel it is not eligible for JEE Advanced 2024. However, if he does not appear for the last round and even not in the ‘online reporting session’ he will be eligible for the JEE advanced 2024. 

In addition, a candidate who has been admitted for the preparatory course in IITs can appear for the JEE Advanced 2024.

JEE Main Result 2024: Session 1

The JEE Main Result 2024 Session 1 will be released on February 12 as per the latest update by the NTA on its official website jeemain.nta.ac.in.
