It is one of the oldest institutes having its origin traced in 1823. The campus of JIPMER is spread across 192 acres of land. In the year 2008, JIPMER was given an upgradation as and Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This institute is one of the few in India which offers courses from undergraduate to super specialty and sub-specialties, conducting ground breaking research and providing specialty care of high order.

Courses offered by JIPMER

For Undergraduate MBBS, B.Sc. Nursing and B.Sc. (Allied Medical Science) are the courses offered by the institute. The courses which are offered for their postgraduate programs are Doctor of Medicine (M.D), Master of Surgery (M.S), Master of Science (M.Sc.) Allied Medical Sciences, M.Sc. Nursing and Master of Public Health (MPH).

When is the examination conducted?

JPIMER is not affiliated with any university, and it awards its degree as it is an Institute of National Importance. The students are selected based on the JIPMER entrance examinations. The entrance examination for the undergraduate courses is conducted once a year, while the entrance examination for the postgraduate courses is conducted twice a year.
