History Of NEET

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test was preceded by the All India Pre Medical Test. While the plan was to hold the exam for the first time in 2012, it was actually deferred by a year due to opposition from medical colleges and finally came into the picture in 2016.

Exam Pattern and Scoring For NEET

As with most other medical exams like JIPMER and AIIMS the exam consists of different sections such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. There are 45 questions in each section. You get 4 marks for every right answer and a negative marking for every wrong answer. If you don’t attempt a question no marks are awarded or deducted for the questions. You have up to 3 hours to answer all the 180 questions provided to you in the question paper.

NEET Syllabus

The reason most students join NEET preparation classes in India in the 11th of 12th standard are because the syllabus for the NEET exam is based on syllabus for the 11th and 12th chapters and topics.  The NTA cannot add topics which are not in the syllabus of the 11th and 12th standard classes and the students prepare themselves based only on these topics.
