NTA (National Test Agency) has issued the recent JEE Main exam Session 2 guidelines on its official website jeemain.nta.ac.in. The candidates must go through the guidelines before the JEE Main exam 2024. 

The admit card for the JEE mains will also contain the guidelines that candidates must follow during the examination. The admit card for the JEE Main Session 2 will be available three days before the exam on the NTA official website. Students can download the admit cards and check all the details before leaving for the examination centre.

JEE Main Session 2 Exam will be conducted between April 4-15, 2024, for admission to undergraduate engineering programs across the country. The top 2,50,000 students will qualify for the JEE Advanced which will held on May 26, 2024, for admission to the IITs and NITs. The exam is one of the toughest entrance exams and requires a determined learning approach to crack it in one attempt.

JEE Main 2024: Exam Day Guidelines

The guidelines for the JEE Main 2024 exam defined by the NTA are as follows:

  1. The candidates should reach the exam centre before the reporting time i.e. between 7:30-8:30 AM for the first shift and 2:00- 2:30 PM for the second shift.
  2. No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam premises after the gate closure and no candidate will be allowed to leave the centre before the exam concludes.
  3. Students wearing any kind of special attire due to religious constraints should reach the centre earlier for checking.
  4. Candidate must carry a JEE Main Admit card and address proof along with the documents required as per the JEE Main guidelines. Students will not be permitted to enter the examination centre without the admit card hard copy under any circumstances.
  5. Before reaching the examination centre students must fill out the self-declaration form, paste a passport-size photograph, and a left-hand thumb impression in the space provided.
  6. A pen/pencil along with rough paper will be provided to each candidate. Candidate must write their name and roll no at the corner of the sheet and hand it back to the invigilator before leaving the examination centre.
  7. Candidates should listen carefully and follow the instructions given by the invigilator in the examination room.
  8. Candidates registered under PwD candidates must carry the identity proof of claiming the PwD candidature to the examination centre.
  9. Candidates should enter the details clearly in the attendance sheet provided by the invigilator in the examination room.
  10. There is no dress code for the examination. However, candidates should avoid wearing clothes with many pockets, jewellery, metallic items, scarves or caps such items can cause delay during frisking.

Things to Consider Before the Examination

Here are some important points that one should look out for before heading for the JEE Main examination:

  1. Look for the location of the examination centre one day before to get an insight into how much time you will need to reach the examination centre.
  2. Make sure to reach at least half an hour before the examination and enter the centre premises before the gate closes.
  3. Don’t forget to carry the admit card with you as no candidate will be allowed inside the centre without admit card.
  4. Enter all the requisites in the attendance sheet in a clean manner.
  5. Appear for the examination in a relaxed mood because anxiety can cost you marks.
  6. Have faith in yourself that you have prepared well and will give your best in the examination.
  7. Have a bath, do relaxation exercises and eat a good breakfast before leaving for the examination centre.

What Items Are Allowed in the Examination Centre?

Here is the list of the things that the candidate must carry with him to the examination centre:

  1. JEE Admit Card along with self-declaration form of undertaking duly filled with clear print
  2. Transparent ballpoint pen
  3. Identity proof 
  4. Passport size photograph
  5. Transparent water bottle
  6. Hand Sanitizer
  7. If you are suffering from ailments such as diabetes you can carry fruits such as apples, bananas, etc.,  sugar tablets and transparent water bottles. However, they are not allowed to bring packaged food such as chocolates, sandwiches, candies, and so on.

What Items are Not Allowed in JEE Main Examination Centre?

The list of things that are not allowed in the examination centre is as follows:

  1. Stationery items: Pens, pencils, printed boxes, geometry boxes, rulers, etc. are not allowed in the examination centre.
  2. Eatables: Candidates are allowed to carry loose or packed eatables inside the examination hall.
  3. ID Cards: school or college IDs are not valid as identification proof and are not allowed in the examination hall.
  4. Electronic devices: Metallic items and electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside the examination centre. Such items include mobiles, calculators, smart watches, pagers, microphones, earphones, log tables, etc.
  5. Hand baggage or purse is not allowed in the examination hall.

Candidates appearing for the exam should maintain silence. Any disturbance in conversation or gestures will be considered misbehaviour in the examination hall. If a candidate is found using any type of inappropriate thing in the examination hall, his candidature can be cancelled permanently or for a specified time depending on the offence made.
