NEET Counselling 2024 Latest Updates: According to the recent update by MCC (Medical Council Committee) NEET counselling will commence in July. Students who passed the NEET exam on May 5, 2024, will be eligible for counselling. The detailed seat matrix and detailed counselling information will be available on the official website of MCC mcc.nic.in. The counselling session will be conducted in six sessions ending in November.

NEET Counselling 2024 Rescheduled  

The NEET Counselling 2024 procedure is likely to begin in the third week of July 2024. After establishing the seat matrix, the NEET 2024 counselling date will be determined by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which oversees the process. MCC will release the NEET 2024 counselling schedule as a PDF and an information bulletin on the MCC NEET UG counselling webpage. The counselling process has been postponed due to the delay in the Supreme Court hearing from July 11, 2024, which has been moved to July 18, 2024.

NEET counselling is conducted for admission to the 1,09,145 MBBS and 27,868 BDS, and around 1000 B.Sc. Nursing seats under All India Quota (AIQ). However, the state counselling will be scheduled for the 85% of seats under the state quota in private and govt. medical colleges.

NEET 2024 Counselling Process: Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the NEET 2024 counselling process a candidate must fulfill the following criteria:

  1. Qualifying Marks: For the General Category the minimum qualifying mark is 50th percentile. For the reserved category candidates, it is the 40th percentile

NEET 2024 Counselling Process

MCC NEET UG 2024 Counselling will be conducted in online mode through the official website https://mcc.nic.in/. There will be four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and  Stray Vacancy Round. The number of vacant rounds depends on the seats left after the particular round process is over. Last year two seat vacant rounds were conducted. The detailed process of the NEET 2024 counselling process is as follows:

  1. Release of Seat Matrix

MCC will share the detailed seat matrix defining the number of seats and colleges available for the NEET 2024 admission process. 

  1. Registration Process

Once the seat matrix is shared the registration process will commence. Each candidate must register to take part in the NEET counselling process. Registration includes details about the contact number, NEET 2024 Roll Number, Rank, Scores, and other personal information. 

  1. Selection of Seat

Candidates taking part in the NEET counselling process must fill out their choice for the seat in the given form. Candidates should fill out the tentative seat form to ease the process of choice filling.

  1. Seat Allotment

Once the choices are filled, a list of allotted seats per the choice filled will be provided by the MCC for the further admission process. Candidates can accept, reject, or opt for an upgrade of seats as per their preference. 

  1. Documentation

If the candidate accepts the seat, he is requested to submit the required documents as per the list for the verification process.

  1. Institute Reporting

Candidates are required to physically report to the allotted college or university to report and pay the applicable fees as per the course he is seeking admission.

Important Points for NEET 2024 Counselling Process

  • New registrations will be accepted for Rounds 1, 2, and the Mop-up Round.
  • There is no chance to upgrade from Round 2. Once a seat is secured in Round 2, candidates cannot switch to a higher preference seat in subsequent rounds.
  • Candidates who accept a seat in Round 2 are not allowed to resign or participate in the afterwards rounds.
  • Candidates who do not accept admission in Round 2 may compete in the following round, but they must register anew for the Mop-up Round. This will lead to the cancellation of the security deposit.
