How to Check JOSAA Seat Allotment 2025

The steps to check the details of the JOSAA seat allotment are as follows:

  1. Visit the JOSAA official website josaa.nic.in.
  2. Click the link “seat allotment result link.”
  3. Enter your application number and password.
  4. Enter the security pin and log in to proceed further.
  5. The detailed seat allotment result will be displayed on your screen.
  6. Take the printout of the sheet for future reference, such as college details, fees, etc.

JOSAA Seat Matrix 2025

Based on the previous year’s details, there are 42,177 seats available in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs participating colleges in JEE Main 2025. Out of these, 24,229 seats in NITs, 8,546 in IIITs, and around 9,402 in GFTIs are available. The details of the JOSAA seats will be officially provided by the officials on their respective websites. List of Documents Required for JOSAA counselling 2025

Here is the list of documents required for the JOSAA counselling 2025. Students must get a copy of these documents to avoid last-minute hassle alongside the original documents.

  2. Three passport-size photographs of the candidate are the same as those provided in the application.
  3. Photo-identity issued by the government of India, such as a driving license, Aadhaar card, Passport, etc.

  6. Seat locking payment receipt.
  7. Birth certificate

Types of Institutes Taking Part in JOSAA Counselling 2025

  1. Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IITs): These are the high-demand colleges for JEE aspirants as they are among the prominent engineering colleges in India. These are open to all students who qualify for the JEE exam.
  2. National Institute of Technology (NITs): There are 31 NITs colleges in India offering engineering courses in different branches. Students may only apply to the NIT in their native state if they share the same state code of eligibility. Students from other states will be included in the “other state” category.
  3. Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs): Students from both their native state and throughout India can apply to Assam University. Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, Ranchi, and IIEST Shibpur accept students from their home state and other states. Other GFTIs only accept applications from students from all around India.

JOSAA Seat Allocation Process

After the seat allocation to a candidate, the JOSAA allows the following options to the candidates:

  1. Float: If a student is satisfied with their assigned seat but wants to upgrade to a better seat in a later round, they can use the float option. In this way, they can preserve their existing seat while remaining open to an upgrade.
  1. Freeze: If a student is happy with their assigned seat and does not want to engage in any rounds of counselling, they can select the freeze option. This indicates that they accept the seat and confirm their acceptance of the present choice.
  1. Slide: If a student is satisfied with their assigned seat but wants to upgrade to a different program (while remaining at the same institute), they can select the slide option.
  1. Withdrawal: If a student decides not to continue with their allotted seat after accepting it, they can withdraw it by reporting to the assigned institute before the final round of seat allocation begins.
