What is JoSAA Counselling 2025
JoSAA Counselling 2025 is a standardised admission process for candidates seeking B.Tech seats at leading government engineering colleges across India. It combines the admission process for IITs, NITs, IIITs, IIEST Shibpur, and other Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) under one platform.
Seat distribution is based on JEE Advanced results for IITs, whereas JEE Main rankings are used for other participating institutes. This procedure involves 121 institutes, which include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, IIEST Shibpur, and 40 GFTIs. The eligible candidates can fill out their choice of college and branch by logging in to the JoSAA website: josaa.nic.in.

JoSAA Eligibility Criteria 2025
To be eligible for JoSAA counselling, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- JEE Main 2025 qualified candidates: For admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs
- The candidate must have passed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
- The minimum percentage required for admission is 75% in class 12th for the general category students and 65% for the reserved candidates.
- Must have cleared the JEE Main Cut-off 2025. The admission is based on the ranking, and it varies for each category.
- JEE Advanced Qualified Students: For admission to IITs
- Must rank among the top 2,50,000 JEE Main rankers.
- Should fulfil the JEE Advanced cutoff.
- Must meet all eligibility rules of JEE Main too.
- For IIT Preparatory Courses (Only for SC/ST/PwD)
- Only SC, ST, or PwD category students are eligible.
- The minimum qualification is JEE Advanced ranking.
- Must check if any course-wise restrictions apply in IITs.
JoSAA Counselling 2025: Registration & Choice Filling Procedure
The detailed registration process and choice selection process for the JoSAA counselling process are as follows:
- Online Registration: Students are required to register on the official website of JoSAA using the application number and password of their JEE Main and Advanced examinations.
- Choice Filling and Locking: After registration, students are required to choose their preferred college and branch and lock them before the final date.
- Mock Seat Allocations: JoSAA will provide a rough idea of the seats available as per your rank and choice.
- Seal Allotment: The officials will issue the final list of seats on the official website according to the students’ choices.
- Seat Acceptance: Students can select the seat using the following options: Float, Freeze, Slide & Withdrawal. If the student opts for the seat, he/she has to pay the fee of ₹ 45,000 for the general category and ₹ 20,000 for the reserved category.
- Document Verification: Once you choose the seat, the student is required to visit the college for the verification of documents.
- Final Admission: The students are required to visit the college and fulfil all the requirements of admission before the last date of reporting

A set of original documents and a photocopy of the following documents are required during the verification process at the college.
- Class 10th Marksheet and Pass Certificate
- Class 12th Marksheet and Pass Certificate
- Three passport-size photographs (Same as JEE Application Form)
- Seat allotment letter by JoSAA.
- Seat locking fee payment receipt.
- Medical certificate
