The next NEET exams or National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test is few months away. Students are working hard to prepare for the upcoming examination. Some of the students must have started their revisions and going for a mock test to get a feel about the test. The most important thing to know is to know what is the NEET syllabus 2020. The question paper of NEET 2020 will consist of a total of 180 questions. 90 questions will be from the Biology section and 45 questions from the Physics section and the rest 45 questions from the Chemistry section.

Let’s see the break-down of each of the sections.

Breakdown of the Biology syllabus

The biology subject is divided into two parts i.e., contents of class XI syllabus and contents of class XII syllabus. The contents of class XI comprise of five units namely

  1.  Unit I: Diversity in Living World
  2. Unit II: Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants
  3. Unit III: Cell Structure and Function
  4. Unit IV: Plant Physiology
  5. Unit V: Human Physiology

 The contents of the XII syllabus also comprise of five units, which are given below.

  1. Unit I: Reproduction
  2. Unit II: Genetics and Evolution
  3. Unit III: Biology and Human Welfare
  4. Unit IV: Biotechnology and Its Applications
  5. Unit V: Ecology and environment

Breakdown of the Physics syllabus

The NEET syllabus 2020 of Physics consists of ten units from class XI and nine units from class XII. The units which are from contents of class XI are as follows:

  1. Unit I: Physical World and Measurement
  2. Unit II: Kinematics
  3. Unit III: Laws of motion
  4. Unit IV: Work, Energy, and Power
  5. Unit V: Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body
  6. Unit VI: Gravitation
  7. Unit VII: Properties of Bulk Matter
  8. Unit VIII: Thermodynamics
  9. Unit IX: Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory
  10. Unit X: Oscillations and Waves

The following are the chapters of class XII of Physics that the aspirants have to learn

  1. Unit I: Electrostatics
  2. Unit II: Current Electricity
  3. Unit III: Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism
  4. Unit IV: Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents
  5. Unit V: Electromagnetic Waves
  6. Unit VI: Optics
  7. Unit VII: Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation
  8. Unit VIII: Atoms and Nuclei
  9. Unit IX: Electronic Devices

Breakdown of the Chemistry Syllabus

Chemistry comprises fourteen units from class XI and sixteen units of class XII, which the students have to study as a part of the NEET syllabus 2020 for chemistry. The chapters under each unit of class XI are as follows

  1. Unit I: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry
  2. Unit II: Structure of Atom
  3. Unit III: Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties
  4. Unit IV: Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure
  5. Unit V: States of Matter: Gases and Liquids
  6. Unit VI: Thermodynamics
  7. Unit VII: Equilibrium
  8. Unit VIII: Redox Reactions
  9. Unit IX: Hydrogen
  10. Unit X: s-Block Elements (Alkali and Alkaline earth metals)
  11. Unit XI: Some p-Block Elements
  12. Unit XII: Organic Chemistry-Some Basic Principles and Techniques
  13. Unit XIII: Hydrocarbons
  14. Unit XIV: Environmental Chemistry

And the unit of class XII comprises of the following chapters

  10. Unit X: Haloalkanes and Haloarenes
  11. Unit XI: Alcohols, Phenols, and Ethers
  12. Unit XII: Aldehydes, Ketones, and Carboxylic Acids
  13. Unit XIII: Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen
  14. Unit XIV: Biomolecules
  15. Unit XV: Polymers
  16. Unit XVI: Chemistry in Everyday Life
